DESCRIPTION:Enjoy unlimited served tea of several varieties\, fresh made scones and tea sandwiches as well as a selection of sweets. \nThis tea’s program is “From Ellicott City to the Big Top”.  Hear how a boy who actually ran away to join the circus made it to the big top after his beginnings on the Little Theater on the Corner on Main Street Ellicott City. \nLive demonstrations at the program! \nThis is a cooperative fundraising event for Historic Ellicott City\, Inc. and the Howard County Historical Society.

SUMMARY:Sip and Learn: Tracing Local Black/Mulatto Revolutionary History
DESCRIPTION:Most people know something about the founding of our country from their required history classes\, movies or books. This presentation will explore some of the Black and Mulatto history of this area’s Declaration of Independence Signer (Charles Carroll of Carrollton)\, and comparing it to that of an area Colonel and an area medical doctor. Men who were involved in the burning of the brig Peggy Stewart (“Annapolis Tea Party”) are discussed. A book for children (and their parents) will be given away to registered participants only. Registration is required.
